I just got my first egg this afternoon. I let the girls out to free range when I got home at three. Checked for eggs as usual, nada. Just got home from karate with the boys and we t out back to say hello to the girls and play. Took a peek in the window and I saw it. An EGG! Complements of Cookie the barred rock.

njchixs- I'm dying to know what you did with your first egg!!! We put a suggestion box on the kitchen counter for everyone to put their ideas in. Some of the ones the kids are putting in are really cute.

The egg is in the fridge along with the one I found her laying around noon today. Today's egg was more brown and a little bigger. We have decided to wait till Sunday when we will hopefully have enough eggs for breakfast. I will probably blow out the first one and save it also. Now if the rest of the girls will join in I'll be ecstatic. I can't wait to see what the Easter eggers will lay.

How do you blow out an egg and preserve it? Do you poke a hole and drain the liquid? How do you keep it from cracking?
