new keeper in MA: mypetchicken OR meyers hatchery?

I just placed my first chick order and used MPC. I was back and forth between MPC and Meyer since the chicks that I wanted were almost the same price at both. Shipping seemed similar too until I tried to place the order with Meyer. Meyer was a lot more for shipping cost (~$60) to Western Washington than MPC (~$37) so I went with MPC. Hoping I made the right choice!

Good morning, all! We have been planning to get some hens since we bought our single family house last january. my wife and i have a 7 year old boy & 9 hear old girl and we are all so excited to start our flock this april.

i have been working hard, reading and researching and planning the coop & run. the coop will be 4x5 with 3 nest boxes for 6 hens. i am building a walk in run that is 8x10. the hens will also have a portable fenced area they can wander around in when we are home, which is most of the time.

big question at the moment: i ordered 6 hens from mypetchicken.com but now i am freaking about about some highly negative yelp reviews i just stumbled upon on yelp. has anyone had recent experience with them? should i cancel my order and order from meyer's hatchery? meyer's does not have ameraucanas but i can live with that. i also ordered a barred Plymouth Rock, Speckled Sussex, Rhode Island Red, Buff Brahma, & a Lavender Orpington.

please advise, thank you so much!!

I have used My Pet Chicken several times only had loss once two dead out of twelve they gave me credit for 4 lost chicks and a big heart felt email with there apologies. I received some ameracanas last fall they were the BBs they are awesome and are starting to lay the prettiest sky blue eggs. They are great for ordering small small numbers of chicks. As others have said I think they get some of there chicks from Mayers hatchery. Good luck

Welcome! You'll learn anything you need to know here.

I have 15 babies from MPC right now. They were delivered in damp raw October weather, all alive. They have thrived and are growing well. All display enough breed characteristics to make your average person happy, ie they look like what they are. Can't comment about eggs yet as they are still young. Great temperments all, although the Easter eggers were a bit boisterous as chicks. They are calming down now. No complaints here! I've also heard these are from Meyers.
