Bonjour, welcome to BYC! You have a beautiful flock! So sorry about your leghorn.

Thank you Melky, I am looking forward to getting involved. I have had hens for years and my grandparents before me. Although things have changed since Nannas day

Yeah! Same with my parents when we were little. I’ll be in Paris first week of January. Hope the yellow vests have stopped and peace restored. I just got message this morning that we may get a tax to support highway work. Hope not too much. It is what it is. How far are you away from Paris?

Oh dear, I sent you a. Long reply ... have you got it or have it got lost in the depths of chicken space ?
I just hadn't been on this morning to read your reply! Ahhhh didn't know that was what the mix is, interesting. I'm doing some of my own breeding next year and have my Araucana roo which I'd like to breed with some of my good layers (particularly my Sussex, Harco and Lohmann Brown). I hatched some vorwerks this summer and have 2 that I don't yet know the sex of. There is a breeder quite local to me if that is of any interest. I know he also drove at the end of summer up into the Cher to pick up some green egg layer eggs which he was hatching. He also has blue / black / spash Marans, pekin cochins, cream legbars (which is why I originally sourced him as they are pretty rare here i think so was thrilled to find them and so close!) and the vorwerks.

I would love the breeder details please. The thought of putting a girl through a 10 hour journey doesn’t appeal but here it is so hard to find enthusiasts. Do you sell your birds ?

Oh would love sheep but hubby says no. I only managed to get chickens as a compromise to goats. (And a little womanly whiles ;))
Our compromise is we only get sheep part-time...we don't have them right now. It would be a pain to feed and water them in the snow. :(

I'll dig out his number, I'm sure I have it somewhere and PM it to you. I'm super busy this week and off to Wales for my brothers wedding later in the week so give me a reminder next week! He is an retired amatuer enthusiast but his set up is amazing and his birds live in really lovely conditions with huge seperate wooded parks for each breed - he is so passionate about them and just loves them!

ETA I dont' sell them at the moment but hope to when I start getting some fun coloured egg birds coming through. I need to enlarge my set up first - my coop is way too small. Plan was to have a new one for the winter but hasnt' happened :he
