Greetings Debby in france, Welcome to BYC! :frow

Wow ! Are you close to a city ? There’s not much around here now. Perhaps one roundabout in villeneuve.
Here we have quite a lot of activity but just friendly waves as they let you past at roundabouts (other than the first weekend when I couldn't get my middle boy to rugby but was a short walk for him). Both Mussidan and Bergerac have quite a set up with tents, Christmas trees, bonfires etc on the roundabouts, not been to Perigueux so nto sure there. My biggest hold up was a big roundabout in Bergerac where I sat for 10 mintues to get on as they were all blocking each road in turn. Here it is all very calm adn friendly and has a lot of support. It is seen a lot of the issues are really detrimental to country people, particularly the recent decrease of KMs to 80 and the fuel increases. If you are in Paris (with the politicians!) you never get to drive that fast or that far. For those of us that are doing 50km / day or more it is seriously detrimental to our budgets and not fair - lower wages in country areas and yet we are the ones getting hit hardest by fuel tax in particular. I think more and more issues are coming out that people are frustrated about. The French have a very long history of protesting against the establishment if things are seen as not fair!

Yep, the fuel prices do need to be put back into order again. We don’t do too many miles as I have been poorly so am unable to drive at the moment. Hubby does of course drive and we have a very old Toyota Land Cruiser that does about 19mpg on a good day. We have started collecting a lot of materials for the build rather than pay the cost of delivery which seems to have gone up and never comes down. However I also think the minimum wage is rediculous, it is just not possible to live on less than 10€ an hour and I have friends who rely just too much on charity which is so unfair when they work harder than anyone I’ve ever met. I think something has gone awry, perhaps it relates to the salaries of those who hold the purse strings.
Ok now I will climb off my soapbox :he

No we’re not really near any large towns. This particular group of GJ are picketing a motorway entrance. Friends today said they went to the Christmas market in Toulouse last Tuesday but stall holders were closing up due to GJ issues.
Goodness, perhaps this area will catch up. We always said it was 30 years behind the rest of the world. We haven’t seen much at all.
