Hey everybody,

I guess I'm the new guy for the moment. My name is Mike and live n Southeastern Arizona. I am not new to raising chickens nor is the wife.

But we are new to dealing with the coyote problem here. They got into the coop for the second time and wiped us out again. Here in AZ I can and have shot them on sight and the same with dogs. However, this coyote is smart. And I have a lot of misgivings about letting lead fly in the semi residential area even with being a crack shot.

Can someone who is much better at CAD than me make me drawing for a 25' wide 8-10' center height hoop house? I just need the hoop drawing. I have a tubing roller here along with a lot of other tools and the know how of how to use them.

Hi :welcome Mike

Glad you could join us here! I'm sorry to hear about your losses. Predator attacks sure can be devastating. You might like to pop over to the predator section where I'm sure members will be able to help you. Here is the link ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/13/predators-and-pests

Good luck and enjoy BYC :frow

Apart from legos I have no building talent either. Do you know how the coyote got to your chickens? Climbing, digging, tearing through wire etc. If you are using poultry fencing, that's your weakest link. The gold standard of wire fencing is 1/2" hardware cloth, securely (no zip ties) affixed to the frame of the run. A solid roof will provide some shade and keep raptors and jumpers OUT. A concrete base would definitely keep diggers out but, you can use a wire apron to achieve pretty much the same effect.

A motion detector with alarm & a game cam will show you just what is going on. If the coop is not far from your house, you can also use a baby monitor in coop and receiver in your bedroom - if there is a ruckus, you will hear it. You might also want a perimeter of electrified fencing. Make it difficult enough and your predators will go on and visit someone else.

I'm sorry for the predator attacks on poor defenselesss chickens - I hope you will be able to stop them in their tracks.
