Hi. I used to have chickens growing up, and I plan to get chickens in the future. Hopefully the place that we move to this summer will allow for chickens. I already have a coop, and have several breeds of chicken in mind (such as Faverolles and English Orpingtons). I used to have Brahmas and RIR growing up. I work at a feed store, so if you see me asking alot of questions about weird things going on with chicks and how to save them, that's why.

Glad you're here !

A must have for your poultry is a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/suggestions-for-a-first-aid-kit.1150128/)
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...-there-and-cut-more-holes-in-your-coop.47774/) Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it!

I currently have the overez small chicken coop. Are there any changes I should make to it? It was on sale and seemed to be the best made pre-fab chicken coop I've ever seen. https://overezchickencoop.com/product/small-overez-chicken-coop/

From the schematics the website gives, the interior floor space adds up to a bit over 10 1/2 square feet. Each chicken, unless they are a small breed like bantam, NEED 4 square feet per bird of floor space in their coop, so this would hold 2 chickens comfortably.

When companies advertise that the coop can hold UP TO (this amount) of birds, they are usually counting the SMALL breeds, like bantams. Sorry. I did the same as you... bought 2 coops that each hold UP TO 8 chickens... but really, only fit about 4 in each.
