Hello! I am new to this group and chicken raising! I look forward to all your ideas and suggestions. So far my biggest challenge is finding the right coop for my flock. The pre-made coops all seem so flimsy! Help me find the right coop, I will be raising 8 chickens

The right coop to me is a converted old shed. That is what I did and I have zero regrets.

Hi, I would avoid the prebuilt coops...they are flimsy and never big enough for the number of birds they advertise for. What about converting a shed into a coop? With some minor adjustments, you would have a nice place for your flock.

Hello and welcome!!
I was greatly disappointed when I bought a prefab coop kit!!
But now I have a beautiful 6x8 children's playhouse (similar to a shed) that all I had to do was add more ventilation to it. I love being able to stand up inside the 'coop'

I'm not sure where you are, but here in Wisconsin you can take a gander on Marketplace and find an icefishing house or shed nearly every day. Fish houses are nice because they are usually insulated and already vented.

We bought an Amish garden shed and built a coop on one end of that.

Hello, and welcome to BYC. As others have said, do not invest in a pre made shed; although, I have seen some Amish coops that are fine. A converted garden shed is a great idea.
