New Mexico

Hi, Located down in the SouthEastern NM. Has anyone seen a webiste or a list of quial you can legal keep/own in NM? I have searched the Fish and Game website with no luck. I have set on hold with their phone number for extended periods of time with no answer. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
You might try this number to inquire if a permit is needed. It's for the NM Avian Protection Permits, not a Fish & Game number - there's a different number for different areas of NM, so I got the one for your area. If you're near Roswell, go visit in person so they can't put you on hold, LOL. If you are thinking of ordering from a hatchery, it would probably be good to be able to tell them what kind of quail, the hatchery you would be getting them from and what you are planning to do with them - in case that ends up being a question. Or they may not care a whit, and say you don't need a permit at all. I'd be pretty sure they don't allow gathering from the wild or releasing into the wild.

Good luck.

Hello NM 🌞

I have a sweet Salmon Faverolle rooster that I, unfortunately, need to find a new home for. His name is Elvis, born 5/1/21, so at the time of this posting, he’s ~16 weeks old.

I live in Rio Rancho which has a rooster ban but this spring I ended up with 2 surprise boys. I’ve done everything I can to make it work. The anti-crow collar works great on the other one but even with it on, Elvis is still pretty loud and I know it’s just a matter of time before someone reports me. I also only have 11 girls, so I was worried about once they matured. All had been getting along fairly well but in the last few weeks the boys have started chasing the girls and things have changed. I don’t think my ratio of 2:11 is going to work.

Elvis was hand raised and handled a lot so he’s very easy to handle—he even enjoys taking a little nap on your lap if you let him. He’s has a great personality, is playful, likes to chat and can be quite entertaining at times!

This has been a very hard decision for me, but I need to do what is best for him and the others and find a home where he can be loved and free to crow 🙂

Hello, wondering if anyone knows of local New Mexico companies that make larger chicken coops and runs? We built our first coop ourselves but don't know we can find the time to do that again.

Would something like a TuffShed work and you could adapt it? I bought an 8x10 wooden building from my local Mennonite builders (I'm now in Missouri but you may have these in your area) and had them adapt it to my specs. Be sure to get plenty of ventilation built in. Good luck!

I bought a Leland’s Shed and modified it as well. Much better materials and craftsmanship than the Lowes sheds.

Greetings fellow feathered children parents!!
Would anyone be so kind as to team up with me for an order?
To place and order, it needs to be 10 or more babies total, but I just want 2 female fawn and white indian runners, would anyone be willing to order 8 or more with me?
They do not need to be the same, just needs to be 10 babies of any combination total. They offer free shipping, but a $37 “small order” fee if under 10 are ordered, eeeep.
I am located in Roswell NM.
They sell unsexed, male, and female. They also sell chicks, guinea fowl, and geese. Thank you in advance!! <3
The website:
www.metzerfarms.com
Or please let me know if you have 2 females or know a better place to order from. <3
