New Mexico

Hey, everyone! It looks like spring here! The hens and ducks think so too! My barnevelders have started laying up a storm, so if anyone is interested in some hatching eggs let me know. These guys are out of Janell Pruett's flock in Washington and TLS Ranch in Ca. At the moment, I have my blues and regulars in the same pen, so you could get a little of each! A week ago a test hatch of 60 eggs were put in an incubator, so babies should be available soon. I will also be selling off a couple of my roosters as I am at a 1:1 ratio with my hens.

I also have Muscovy duck eggs beginning to be laid, if anyone wants to try their hand at that. I am looking to set some this week, so if my incubator is kind we'll have babies.

@bumpershoot I am so glad to hear there is someone in the state with Barnevelders. I had hoped to find some but finally gave up, and went with the Svart Höna. However... one can always build another coop... right?

I've got a blue copper Marans (who is too dark... black copper Marans??) and a light Brahma in one area. I suppose I could sell them or something. I really love the banding on the feathers of the Barnevelder! Such gorgeous birds!

everything is fine had a little bit of trouble with some dogs lost my rooster.still looking for one.
Oh no, sorry for your loss... that is just so awful to lose birds to dogs... what type of rooster are you looking for? Because I've got a Svart Höna rooster looking for a roost to call his own.

And boy oh boy, we are getting some very nice chickens here in NM. And not just the Barnevelders, Svart Höna and Ayam Cemani, either! Neighbor of mine who has about 100 birds or so, is ordering some Erminettes from Sandhill. She's also got a ton of other interesting breeds, and is really into genetics. Quite fascinating to have a discussion with her.
