New Mexico

I could easily make it 25 for you! Chicken math has caught up with me too. Would you like a few Wyandotte adult hens to go with your flock? I have 16 hens and a rooster and I need to get back down to my bakers dozen: 12 hens and 1 roo.
Ughhh temptations what type of Wyandotte do you have???

I can't imagine you'd want to drive over past Silver City for a few chickens! On the list to go away I have a Silver Lace, and a Gold Lace both hatched 2016 and 2 Silver Lace both hatched 2017. All laying well through the summer, now slowing down, a couple beginning to molt. The two from 2016 are McMurray hatchery, the 2 from 2017 are homebred by a Silver Rooster with eggs from Golds & Silvers - silver is dominate so it is "possible" they carry a gold gene. These are not show birds, nor are they pets, they free range on several acres and put themselves to roost at night. If you have tight quarters I think they'd have a hard time adjusting since they've never known confinement.

Yeah with New Mexico having only a population the size of a big city and us being so dispersed it's very hard to find people. I'm actually heading to Tijeras this weekend to pick up some paint silkies lol

I never really have problems with coyotes, but more with feral cats. People are also stupid and leave their gates open and their dogs come out and kill my chickens. Been having a problem with chickens jumping the fence and going into the next door neighbors yard, getting stuck. They have two puppies there, and they chase the chickens. A hen recently chipped a nail to the quick and got stuck. Blood everywhere. I got her out and, after a bit of washing and stanching the blood flow, she's now fine, though favoring her bad foot.
