What do the toes tell me about babies/age?

Sorry the toes don't tell age. It's just that you know she is female and I'd like to know if the toe things bears out with her. I'm trying to learn if this could be somewhat reliable with young birds.

I've only had them in since 10pm last night but they just eat and drink and it looks more like they tolerate each other but that's about it.

What does the black eye mean? He has one of each; one black and one orange like hers.

I think that is Pie-bald (Pied-bald?) which is pigment missing from the feathers and when there are white feathers around the eye it can cause one or both to lose their pigment as well, showing the dark beneath the iris.

Now the name came to me, it's called a Bull eye when the eye is dark

Wondering about his age

Does he have a squeaker voice or an adult voice? Males mature a bit faster then females usually around 4 months to 6 months of age. They usually have an adult voice at about 3 months of age.

I've heard of Bull eye in whites, didn't know it could occur with such a small amt of white feathers and on just one side! Thanks.

The only sounds I've ever heard him make are when he's eating and the chickens or tweety birds get too close. It sounds like he is growling at them.

They can have different coloured eyes... just like some people. I have a few with one solid black eye and one eye of another colour.

Your new bird will eventually pair up with the other one... even if they are the same sex because their urge to be a pair is so strong.

The toe sexing method does not work, sorry. If only it was that easy!!! I still make mistakes in sexing my birds and I have been keeping them for 20 years!! Sometimes one will be small and delicate looking and it is a male.. other times I have had big birds with lost of colours on their necks, thick heavy set bodies and big heads.. which behave aggressively and even coo and bow and chase other birds.. only for them to turn out to be females!!!
