New Project "Road to Ok" Quilt for My Bed (Top Finished!)

Can't wait to see it. I use a hot pad on my back while I sew and if that don't work I use my icing machine I got from the hospital after my knee surgery. That little cooler is the best thing I have ever seen invented, no getting up to change your ice and no leaking ice bags. Makes life so much easier.

Sure does do in your back to bend over cutting and pinning, doesn't it, Jean? The quilt shop was closed today! I'll have to wait till we go to Walmart tomorrow to try to get more of the Homespun burgandy (that's where I got it) and hope they have some green to match. I think it will be easier to match the green than the red.

Put it on the bed and placed the three finished border sides on there to give you an idea. I have a few bits of the burgundy fabric, but no green left, at least not close enough to that color in the quilt. Anyway, here is an idea of what it's turning out like. It's raining and cloudy and even though I opened the blinds and turned on the overhead light, still too dark for a good picture.

Quilt shop where I was today in Murphy, NC didn't carry Kona fabric in the dark green, dang it. I got Homespun in green at Walmart, but geez, if you've ever used that, you know you have to wash it and wash it and wash it to make the fabric quit bleeding and you never know if the shade you end up with is the same as the one you're using. So, I may end up with one side made with slightly different shades of green. Still, it won't be that noticable, I don't think. The other quilt shop may have Kona, which is the brand of green I started with, but it was closed yesterday and I was on the opposite end of town today from that one. Washing them now and will probably have it done tonight and ready to decide on the next phase of it.

Trying to fade the Homespun Red and Green. The red refuses to fade as much as the first yardage I got off that same bolt at Walmart. The first ended up being almost a dull tomato red and this won't fade as much, so both red and green would be different for part of the last side. Dang. Anyone know how to fade fabric? I've washed and washed and put peroxide in the water even and no more color is coming out.

So, is it better to go ahead and hope no one notices the slight difference in color of some of the border, or better to change up the side borders to a checkerboard 4 patch of green and blue?
