As if you didn't already have enough to do, Kathy! How long does it take you to quilt a queen size quilt on your fancy machine?

Wow, 3 hours vs 3 months...hmm. Well, not sure it would take me 3 months, but it would take me over 1 month to quilt it by hand, I bet. Do you put the layers on separately then?

Wow I'd love one of those quilting long arm machines.

The layers go on rollers .... each roller has a, "leader," which is a piece of fabric (muslin or canvas). The quilt pieces are attached to the leader (pins or basting)and then rolled onto the roller. The batting just comes up from the middle (underneath), so when I begin I have all the sandwich ends together. Hard to explain ... but is easy to do. Wish you were near, and you could do it! It is soooo fun!

The tension on mine got messed up when we moved. I need to mess with it until I get it reset.

I'd love to learn how to quilt on one of those huge machines! If you were close by, I'd sure take you up on it, Kathy. Been working on this quilt today. Have two corner stars finished and some of the border, but it probably won't be finished (this part anyway) tonight.

I have the four corner star blocks done. My eyes must be getting worse or it's just way too dark in my house. I did the center of the stars with a blue that wasn't the one I intended! ARGH! They aren't far off in value, so it's probably not noticable. I keep doing stuff like that lately. So frustrating! These star blocks are 6" and I don't do well with small pieces, but they're done and I'm zipping through the rest of the border 4 patches pretty fast. Have this knot in the middle of my back that may slow me down some, but I'll post when this border is finished. I may put a pillow tuck (is that the right expression?) on top, a series of 12" blocks that will go over the pillows. I rather like not having the entire quilt planned out, actually, so a medallion is perfect for me.


***Got top and bottom borders done with the stars on each end, but I don't have enough green or burgundy to do the sides, as I suspected. Have to do different borders on the sides or try to match the fabric as closely as I can.
