I would put a boarder of smaller blocks with the pattern. Then another round of the plain boarders like you did around the first block. Does that make sense.

That sounds like 15 inches left on the width, divided by 2=7 1/2 right..what is the measurement of the center 4 patch block?..sounds like it is right on!!!

Yes, Jean, I know exactly what you mean. CedarRidge, the center 4 patch in the middle of the stars is right at 6", so that would do it, one on each side to take up 12" of the 15" or I can easily make them a tad larger. Then, more plain borders to complete the quilt. Now, to see if I have enough fabric to do that! And which one? Red and green, or blue and red, or green and blue? Decisions, decisions! If I can figure that out, I'll have it made and be ready to continue tomorrow.

How about ... piece some blocks of gold stars (like the very center) and make that one of the next rounds?

Was thinking about doing something like that for the final border, Kathy, but not quite sure. Want to keep it fairly simple, but I'm sure it will come to me. I do alot of staring and thinking, then eventually, I get that lightbulb moment. Maybe I could do a star block in each of the four corners with the plain 4 patch in between as the main border.

Now, I just have to figure this one out as far as color. I have gold-blue-gold so maybe it's time to add some burgundy and green for this 4 patch border, with gold stars on the corners. Yep, that's it.

I'll be lucky if I don't run out of this green fabric before I'm finished, but it shouldn't be hard to match pretty closely if I had to go to the quilt shop in town. I'm half a mind to send this to Kathy to machine quilt for me when I'm done!

I'm already needing to quilt the top she sent me and I want to do that by hand.
