New puppy!! DNA test? What do you think he is? UPDATE on pg 7

It is the same as a lot of pitt heads. My aunt breeds Sharps' and I just don't see it.

And Sharps have tiny ears.

Oh, ok. His ears will be full prick...or at least 3/4 prick...the cartilage still needs to harden.

In pics, he seems to always have his ears flopped, but much of the time his ears look like one (or both when one ear does one and the other does something else) of the ones below (pics are fullbred APBTs from a page listing disqualifications/faults for showing).

His ears have done this before too.

His floppy, funny ears are floppy less and less each day. They are his funny, puppy ears.

Well, the puppy is being far more energetic today, so that is good. He is still not interested in eating much of anything, but he is drinking plenty of water. He still has diarrhea, but I am sure that has a lot to do with him not eating. He is definitely staying on the uphill!!

Oh, and we think we are going to name him Gauge.

Is there something you can feed him to try and thicken his diarrhea? Add fiber/oats or something to some broth or canned food? You can give him keopectate....my vet gave it to me for our dogs....I bought a big one gallon jug of it at the feed store. For calves, horses, dogs, cats. Has the directions for all on the bottle. They can all have it. It also helps and upset stomach feel better by coating the lining.

So glad he's feeling better!

Definitely no Shar Pei. I think people think that because - minus all the wrinkles and tiny ears - Shar Pei and pitts do have a similar head shape. In Shar Pei mixes the wrinkles in the face are the last to go.

I have used canned pumpkin to help with diarrhea in dogs with much success. You might want to try it(and maybe run it by your vet).

And we will need more pics when he is feeling better!

Claud, I will definitely post more pics of him when he is healthier. Right now he all sucked up skinny from being sick. He finally ate some ground turkey for my husband.

As of Friday morning at the vet, he already lost 6 lbs.

But, he'll put it back on when he feels better. As long as he keeps improving, we know he will be fine. He sure is a sweetheart!!
