New puppy dying of Parvo... (BOWEL MOVEMENT PICTURES WARNING)

The main thing about parvo is it causes them throw up, etc.. so they never really get any food in they're "System". And eventually stop eating.. Im not sure if it is the actual thing but that's what i have heard and experienced as "Parvo".. My grandfather has had a few dogs over the years that had it. What he would do is get a big syringe, bottle may work as well.. And mix all kinds of food, milk, etc into and feed it to them until they perk back up.. i believe he said after a week or so it works.

16 years ago I lost 9 Rotties to parvo, an entire litter. One after another
they got sick and I had to bring them to the vet to be euthanized. They
were too young and would not survive.

I feel your pain.

It is hard to watch. DH rescued a dog with a litter of pups from someone who said they were going to put the whole bunch down if they couldn't get rid of them in 'x' amount of time.

One of his things, is that he's tender-hearted. I accept that. We went & got the whole lot of them...1 mom, 10 pups. They were contagious with distemper. We didn't know it until they started dropping like flies, and the mom started acting really weird.

The bad thing is, distemper is airborne, and infects unvaccinated wild & domestic dogs for up to a 30 mile radius.

VACCINATE VACCINATE VACCINATE--- SEPERATE SEPERATE SEPERATE

It can not be said enough.

As bad as it sounds, at least parvo is LOCAL to your area, other dogs near by may still be ok. I don't know how many animals must have suffered from our ignorance.

actually parvo eats away at the lining in the intestines and the smell is from the sloughing of tissue dying..so actually a really bad case of "garbage gut" will smell the same way, force feeding them wont hurt, but probably wont help, they should have IV fluids and meds..I am guessing you grandpa had something else going on..

They gave her the ELISA test (which is the same principle as a human pregnancy test). It came up very positive. She is also infested with hookworms. I had no idea this poor dog was so sick. I had her 3 weeks, 4 weeks max. She is still alive to my knowledge. The vet tech will call me when she goes in to care for them tomorrow. I am so worried. The vet is optimistic that she will be okay. I really hope so, she doesn't deserve this.

I am praying your puppy makes it!! I am in the same boat as you , but mine has hemorrhgic gastroenteritis. He is in the hospital also.. Very very stressful time. Please Lord, let these puppies be okay!!!!

Yeah at 16 weeks he has a really good shot at survival, they need to keep his fluids up and let the virus run it's course. You did the right thing taking him to the Vet.
