New to Backyard Chickens Website. Excited & Need Help/Opinion:) :)

Hi. Thank you! We picked them up 6 days ago and they said they were between 4-10 days old so I'm guessing approaching 2 week mark. They are on medicated crumbles. They were in a brooder box when we picked up (Dare 2 Dream Farms). We noticed first blood late Sunday night. I immediately called the farm Monday am and they told me to get the Corid but track and feed store was closed yesterday hence waiting till today. But when I got back from picking up...their recent poop was all normal. I wish I had taken pictures! My daughter is cleaning the box 2x a day so it's dry and clean. It's so hard to tell the shedding of intestinal lining vs. actually bloody stool when the poop sample is so dang tiny!!! Are they supposed to sleep a lot in the first few weeks? They are getting up every hour to nibble and drink and had spunk when we took them outside.
I'd start the Corid water treatment. It isn't going to hurt them to do it. Do you know the dosage protocol?

:frow Welcome from New Orleans. One of the great things about this site is that there are always people who are willing to help in any way they can. They are knowledgeble and caring.
Most will answer any question, there are no silly questions on BYC. Off the top of my head, at this hour in the morning I think the best people to check in with for an answer are (our residant:caf POOP experts, @casportpony and @Kiki (please forgive me if I have left anyone out, it is still early for me)

THanks so much. My husband said the same thing (just do it, it's not going to hurt them!) I was over thinking. We started last night. I found the dosage info for baby chicks on line (cross referenced w/ multiple sources) so I think we are all good! Soo appreciate all the thoughts from everyone!

Hi and welcome to BYC! We're glad you joined us! :frow How much time during the day are they sleeping? If you could manage to get poo pictures it would help a lot. Are they eating and drinking ok?

We ended up starting the corid in water last night. They are still perky, seemd to enjoy their time outside in grass with us and we treated them to some scrambled eggs which was received with much enthusiasm so I think they are going to be ok! Thank you so much for reaching out!!
