New To Board & Proud Owner Of A New Stagecoach Chicken Tractor

You apparently have never visited Niota...there are no "parts" just "left of the traffic light" or "right of the traffic light". SMALL town.

But what is MOST important, I am less than 3 minutes from the new Farmers Co-Op that is being built in Athens.

You know you live in a small town, when the new Co-Op is the most exciting thing to have happened in 5 years.

I also can't wait till the new co-op opens, it looks like it's going to be very nice

Ohhhh...you are out in the country. I am completely jealous!! I'm stuck inside the city limits, so shhhh...they don't know I have chickens. Thankfully one neighbor is my mother and the other neighbor is WAY over their 3 dog limit...so hopefully they won't turn me into the City Commission to face the wrath of Ms. Brakebill.

But I'm unsure of my mother's trustworthiness, she's been looking kinda shifty in the eyes lately...I think it may be because she came outside and found my older hens having a midday nap on top of her convertible.

If you think that is funny, you should have heard the screams! I was in house folding laundry when I heared Mom's screams from next door...I went running outside with my cordless phone ready to dial 911, when I saw her hanging over the porch railing swinging a broom in an effort to shoo them off her car...with my hens looking at her, not alarmed but completely puzzled. I have 3 acres on which they are free to roam, but instead they are completely obsessed with hanging out in Mom's carport.

Several people have asked me about the security of the Stagecoach Tractors...now I know (other than my own dogs testing them out). Something desperately tried to get into both the tractors last night, but didn't succeed...all chickens are safe and unharmed. The tarps and paint however a different story. The tarps are SHREDDED and the paint is scratched up, but the wire and supports are still standing strong. From the extent of the damage & claw marks, I assume it was raccoon(s). I am just relieved all my girls and boys are safe, when I stepped out the door and saw the shredded tarps, my heart dropped.

So they didn't try to dig under?

Ron

No, but the ground is frozen here. The electrician was using a gas powered trencher Friday and was having a doozy of a time getting a trench dug to my mother's greenhouse.

After seeing the damage done, I am considering adding a solar powered fence charger with battery for nighttime use...just for an extra jolt. Cause I can't buy new tarps every day.
