Hello everyone!

I'm new to BYC, but I've lurked for a long time! I've been a chicken owner for about 4 years now, and I'm trying to gain knowledge on if my flock can produce good offspring if I incubate some of my eggs, or if I'll just have a bunch of mutts - if that's even a bad thing.

Here's what my flock currently looks like:

Roo:

Production Red

Hens:

1 RIR
2 Brown Sex Link
2 Production Red
4 Black Sex Link
4 Ameracuana
2 White Leghorn

Should I hatch eggs from such a flock?

Thanks in advance for and advice or links to reading material!

Well, they would all be mixed breeds. But they'd still lay eggs and be fine to eat, if that's your thing, so if you just want them for more eggs or to eat, then there's no reason not to hatch some chicks. The breed combos you have aren't going to produce any special hybrids like sex links or anything like that. But the chicks you hatch should be decent egg layers and the roosters will be good to eat, so if you want more chickens, why not?
