How many birds do you plan to keep? Do you have any specific breed(s) in mind? Most importantly, have to designed and started to build your coop? Make sure you size it correctly for your anticipated flock size and then go bigger by 50% because you will want more eventually. Also make sure you have a HUGE amount of ventilation in the coop. You want to shoot for 1 sq ft of permanently open ventilation per bird as you can manage.
There are a lot more things to take into consideration for your coop and run design so be sure to visit the Coop & Run forum and read the higher rated coop articles to learn what makes a good coop. And what doesn't.
