New to chickens?

I highly recommend checking out the "Learning Center," then you may want to branch out to other threads/forums on coop/runs, raising chicks, predator proofing etc. One drawback of buying from hatcheries, Back yard chickens etc. is that the chicks will be shipped to you. It's not unusual to have some arrive DOA, or to have some die in the first few days. Sometimes the PO goofs up shipment, delays, and so on - which is hard on chicks. Day old chicks can be shipped because they do not need food usually for 2-3 days after hatching, because they absorb the yolk sac .
