Well I would be the first to say...my guesses are only guesses!
But it's hard to resist making predictions about the little guys!

We are all learning here, I don't know if I am right or wrong for sure till this batch gets up to 3 and 4 months that is why I marked them, we will see,
I really didn't start looking close till Birdrain 92 mentioned it .

My cats are wild ones we only keep them to keep the mouse population down but I know that they won't mess with my Indian Runner ducks, they own the yard only I can step foot in my yard not getting chased by the drake and hen.

#2 IB: Female, by the looks of it she looks healthy probably just getting a little to hot that is usually the reason when wings drop is to cool down or just barrely flapping the wings without completely leaving their body. Usually you can see if they are sick looking in their eyes they will keep trying to shut them and they wlll look like if they're in pain

IB Back Lt # 2: Female

IB Rt # 1: Male

I don't know if some of those pics had the same peachick so I did all of them. Rt means right and Lt means left correct? Cause I don't want to be giving wrong info You see we have a difference of opinion. New 2 peafowl thinks That #2 iB sick peachick. is a male.. these are all guesses. There are no solid , clearly defined markers, 1,2,3,4.that erases all the
reasonable doubts to sex the Indiablue peachicks before 10-12 weeks in my opinion

Pedda, don't you ever look at your chicks and just guess their sex anyways?
Even though you believe it's not possible to tell yet?
Trying to predict the sex is more for fun than anything.
If I was selling chicks, I would certainly not guarantee their sex based on my wild guesses!!

I agree, it is fun... That said, practice on these

This picture was taken 9-26-12. Top middle chick hatched 8-23-12, bottom middle 8-6-12 and left and right hatched 7-23-12.

We are sexing them though just looking at the peachicks. Most hatcheries that I know never sex based off of the tint of the color, they squeeze the chick just enough to keep the vent open to try and find a bump or no bump. I just don't like to squeeze chicks because I'm afraid I might squeeze my chicks to hard and put the chick under to much stress which can cause death. The vent sexing can be done at any age of the chicks life but we aren't there to vent sex we just judge what sex it is based on the picture.
