Supposely DE is sharp enough to cut the exoskeletons of mites and lice, killing them. Some people insist it is a great wormer however when DE gets wet internally its clumping action may not allow it to exert this sharp edge ability. There is doubt surrounding all of its quality. Some say it does help put on a healthy shell on an egg though. Use it with caution, and ALWAYS wear a mask when using it, it will cut your lungs.

Its dangerous to breathe but otherwise safe. DE will not take care of huge infestations, you will need to use poultry drugs for internal and external parasites and again its debatable if it does anything to prevent these bugs from over populating your facilities. Putting a handful of DE in a dust bathing area may be helpful to prevent mites or lice from taking hold, however a good dust bath without DE usually does the same thing.

Ok so as day 21 is coming to a end I have 10 eggs showing no signs of pipping so my question is the 4 that hatched yesterday are fluffed and dry should I go ahead and put them in the brooder...my humidity is staying like 80 with them in there?
