My flock has dwindled down to two- long story- I rehabilitated a raccoon and the sweet bugger got to three of my gals. :( and my fourth babe got sick. (I live in town so I have a limit on birds allowed) So, I currently have a Silver Laced Wyandotte and a Barred Rock. I have five babies on order and I am stoked! HBU?

I'm so sorry you lost some birds. Unfortunatley happens sometimes. I started with 3 chicks (Buff Orp, Barred Rock, Easter Egger) a few years ago, but lost my BO to an unknown predator just last winter. So last spring I got 3 new chicks (another BO, EE and Blue Wyandotte) and successfully integrated them when they were 4-5 weeks old. But I lost my BR shortly after... I did perform my own (incomplete) necropsy and found an inch layer of visceral fat and possible organ failure. I believe it was due to too much junk food in the compost pile. Now I'm very mindful of what and how much goodies they have access to, lesson learned. Thinking about getting a couple more chicks this spring!

Hi! I'm in SE Wisconsin! :D Nice to meet you!
I have 10 laying hens left. I lost about as many (10ish) from predators over the last 12 months and am now in the process of looking to rehome.
