Hi all! i commonly go by just "peter" online as an alias, I'm from VA
not exactly new! I've done light research over the years regarding chickens and keeping them, especially suburbia/city info.
I picked up a flock of 4! this previous march (the 7th) X2 Barred rocks, and X2 ISA brown's
unfortunately they don't have names! (please suggest some
)
i thought about purchasing from hatcheries but i opted for a local/somewhat corporate based hardware store "Ace" hardware, they have a 3 minimum chick buy and had about 4 breeds to choose from (i got there too late, still love my hens!)
i like raising chickens in my backyard as i have just enough space for a small flock to enjoy and my dog cherry guards them all very well :3 the egg's are the main thing I'd like to hold on to about 32 for personal consumption, and i plan to sell the rest off for profit locally at farmers markets, etc.
other hobbies! big nerd for computers, not software or coding or anything, i mainly specialize in physical hardware and parts/repairs, game sometimes, fish/aquariums, if not any of that, my chickens!
my family is small! well my household count is what's small, but the amount of eggs and chickens the egg production is just right!
I've known about this place for a bout a year or 2 roughly now, it looks a fun community! i stumbled across it looking for others in my (closer to local) area for general information and how others experiences have been and if there was anything i should be on the lookout for law wise/local regulations.
