New winter coop finished!! Upgrades on my BYC page.

Beautiful, my chickens are jealous...and me. Are you going to cover their run so they can go out in the winter w/out snow. I put clear plastic over 1/2 the run so they can move about easier, here in Maine its a must, or they would be stuck inside all day.

Thanks everyone.

I was thinking of adding some sort of smaller wire at the bottom to keep from chickens from be decapitated, but that is on the secondary item list...the never ending let add or modify list.

It was pretty crazy in there this morning, The younger chicks where running for their lives and wanted so bad to get out of the coop. I'm keep them lock in the coop until later this afternoon so they find the nest boxes.

nice job!!!

I know people around me that don't insulate their coops or heat the coop. heck some dont have coops and the birds huddle on the porch... poor things. As long as they are protected from the wind and have good ventilation they should be fine. Insulation is just a bonus.

The reason why this is my winter coop is because they were in a A-frame tractor. The A frame did not provide enough protection for cold weather.

As for the summer heat my coop is the the shade from the garage from about 1:00pm on so insulation is not a factor.

I will add insulation down the road just not this year.

OP - awesome & *posh* Michigan coop. You have outdone yourself!
