Man oh man oh man, no good can come from this!!!!!!!! I have been researching paper piecing all day, like how to draft your own patterns and such. I came across a site for a quilt a-long for paper piecing 20 .......................................... count them .................................. 20 DOCTOR WHO blocks!!!!!!!!!!

I am to late for the quilt along part, and can't find the free patterns yet, I think I have to sign up for the group first which I can't do on the work computer.

Sounds Awesome, you should put the link up

I got my first look at the patterns today and downloaded them all (all the ones they have posted so far), and they look sooooo complicated!!! One thing is sure, if I complete this I will be a paper piecing expert!!!!! lol (either that or have a lovely white jacket and walls made of bubble gum.

I have been putzing w/ this swaps block, and am really liking it.

It has a few problems, but it was my practice block. The bottom left 1/4 block is off on size I trimmed it wrong. The rt side is larger b/c before I realized I cut the one block wrong I thought the block was going to be to small so I made the second half a tiny bit bigger. Over all I think the colors and placement work though. They won't all be this same star color, but I think the inner turquoise will pop w/ all the other star colors too.

Anyway I couldn't be happier w/ the block over all.

The technique of paper piecing definitely has a learning curve, but I urge any who haven't tried it to give it a go, it really does have some great points to it, not the least of which is freedom from the "scant 1/4 inch seam Nazi's", you'll be reciting the "Free at last" speech w/ me! lol

Kass, this is just beautiful, the turquoise just jumps right out, and having your lighter brown color in front of it you make that come forward and the darker brown falls back, great use of colors!
Maybe someday I will get that good.
I have tried paper piecing but gave it up, maybe the block itself was too confusing.
We did not have you-tube for everything at that time maybe I'll try again with YT help.

Kassaundra wow beautiful block, very nice color choices too.
2x & may I add, WOW
Ok back to looking for a _simple_ star w/ not too many points for my 4 colors , Kassaundra you have set the bar very high which is great :)
My block will be much much simpler, which I know if fine too, and together we shall all have an amazing natural colors sampler blocks quilt.
I have a cup of tea & am going surfing for block ideas now...
