New Year Block swap

@fenrosie and mayjack I'm glad you and yours are okay we hadn't heard from you for a while so I had to ask. The fens are a very interesting place from what I have read. I'm reading Stephen Booths Cooper and Fry series right now, and found a family place name. The Peaks district sounds very interesting too.,
@keepmumsane ironing pillowcases and other small flat things was one of my first household chores that my mother taught me. The same as I taught my daughters. They argued over who got to iron and who had to do dishes.

Seriously!!!!!!! I can't remember the last time I ironed a piece of clothing I wasn't sewing, but I can say never a pillowcase. I think the only clothes we iron at all are my husbands dress shirts and he irons them. It has always been a rule you wear the clothes you iron them.

Quote: Same here - my hubby has to iron his own dress shirts for work. I do the rest if it needs to be done. Our kids get a laundry basket and laundry detergent for their 16th birthdays (no car). Better for them to learn at home where I can help them than trying to figure it out when they are on their own. I thought I was crazy spending $30 on an iron.

fenrosie and mayjack - glad everyone is dry and okay! Weather is crazy!

Kassaundra (he he he) I was speaking of teaching my children how to iron on things that were easy. I did marry a guy in the USAF so I did uniform ironing for about 20 yrs. for him, I was a stay at home mom, now just occasionally besides for piecing and sewing.

Quote: That is a good idea to start kids on something easy to iron. I ironed everything for the first 15 years of marriage (including hubby's Reserve uniforms), but it got to be too much when I was teaching full time. He had to learn to do it. RustyHen - you deserve a pat on the back for those years of uniform ironing. Definitely a labor of love since they can be time-consuming to get right.

wow, i like to iron. i think it's because i have an iron i really like and a space dedicated to it. plus i sew a lot of my own clothes so i'm just accustomed to handling fabric. i'm weird.

cathiesue - not weird. I have lots of friends that enjoy ironing! It takes a lot of work to prepare to iron around here since there is no good place to put it up.

I don't like to iron, but my husband does a really nice job so he will iron. Just like I don't like to hem pants, don't know why but I rather take a beating than hem a pair of pants, so easy, which reminds me I have a pair to do!!!! guess what I'm getting ready to do!!!

I know what you mean, my husband is 5ft 6 (at least that is what he says lol ) anyway I have to hem almost every pair of pants for him.
