Re- reading your post, guess I maybe failed to answer you questions.
This one is the roo - he is not yet full grown , the Heritage ones do grow very slowly, he is still not even 1 yr old & they can keep growing until about 24 months.
His feathers esp. tail will get bigger, longer more impressive on the next molt , maybe -- I got him b/c he was getting torn up by his dad, all his original tail & back feathers were ripped out when he was about 5 months old, in winter weather so I spent a long time nursing him through that & I'm not sure if his feathers will ever reach the potential they would have had or if they got too damaged to make his full tail set (?)
The area around his neck was unharmed, & you can see how amazing it is in the photo.

What is so clear to me about the Heritage birds is the quality of the barring, the lines match up across feathers to form perfect rings around the bird's bodies when the feathers are laying smooth.
You can see it well in the Hens too, esp around their neck & upper chest/body -- perfect b/w rings around them. I didn't think I liked b/w birds until I got these, which are real eye candy.

Anyway, I just have the Trio atm.
