New Year Block swap

I am frozen solid!!!!!! I HATE all things winter to the bottom of my frozen little toes!!!!!! I think anything below 50 F is to cold for human habitation and inhumane!!!!!! And it is in the single digets!!!!!!!! We have snow and ice everywhere I am not a happy camper about the weather at all. My chickens aren't excited either (or dogs or cat for that matter) everyone is hibernating and waiting it out. I just finished a 72 hour shift in this horrible weather, and the last 24 hours w/ a raging sinus infection (well had the infection all along but it started acting up really bad for the last 24 hrs) I had rolls of toilet paper stashed all over the ambulance!!!! lol lol lol
We're in this together girl! Twice a day I've gone out to see about the birds. Here's what I put on.
tights, t shirt tucked into tights, wool socks
sweat pants, long sleeved t shirt tucked into sweatpants
denim overalls that i bought at Goodwill for 3 dollars that are two sizes to big just for these occassions
(planning to splurge on some Carharts later)
fleece headband and knitted cap
barncoat
rubber gloves, regular gloves (awesome tip from my state thread, if you spill water, and i do, your gloves might get wet but your hands stay dry)
lip balm! very important!

Keeping this in perspective. Less than a month ago we were having 60-65 degree days!

Still waiting or my fabric to arrive for this. I'm working on a few mug rugs. I just couldn't stop at one.

Will be getting light soon. Need to start getting dressed for the frozen outdoors!

I hope fenrosie and mayjack and families are doing okay England and Scotland have been hit by a terrible storm 145 MPH in Scotland and high surf and sever winds in England with power outages everywhere.

Were ok, thanks but the town of Boston, where the pilgrims set out from, which isn't far from here went under water but we havnt seen much about it on TV as the news is just non stop Nelson Mandela!. Also some villages further inland from us got hit as the water went upstream. Our farm is below sea level so always a worry. There are huge pumps that take the water away at all times for us Fen dwellers otherwise we would get wet feet! It is a standing joke that the fen people have webbed feet but that's because of inter breeding not water!

@ fenrosie I'm really glad to hear that you are all ok and I'm guessing that is the same for Majack. You gals have been hit this year, usually don't hear of England having weather problems or it could be our news source. fenrosie I'm glad we are not alone in the in breeding problems

@keepmumsane I think I heard that that iron is about 2-4 hundred dollar iron, I was interested until I found out the price, way more than I am willing to spend on a clothes dewrinkler.

@fenrosie Glad you are ok. The Boston situation doesn't sound good, hope ppl there went to high ground ahead. The info. about Fen is really interesting, it is similar to Heath & Heathen as far as talking about a type of land/location & also the ppl who dwell there. I was over in the UK 20+ yrs ago, lived in Edinburgh for 3 months, & traveled around some but still was unaware of the term Fen.

Ok so due to ice storms & other stuff here I am running behind on these blocks. I have pulled out the graph paper & colored pencils and I worked out the fabric placement and amts needed of each based on that for 2 versions of the star block I intend to make, 1 simpler than the other so depending on how long the star points take the corner pieces will either be sold or 4patchpieced , at this late date I'm thinking solid but we'll see...

I was ironing costumes the other day and one of my girls asked me what I was doing..... Clearly we have lots of knit and I havent quilted for a while. Crazy price...crazy cool iron. Disconcerting habit to develop though, , leaving it flat..

Hi fen dwellers, glad You're safe. Weather is out of control this year.

@fenrosie and mayjack I'm glad you and yours are okay we hadn't heard from you for a while so I had to ask. The fens are a very interesting place from what I have read. I'm reading Stephen Booths Cooper and Fry series right now, and found a family place name. The Peaks district sounds very interesting too.,
@keepmumsane ironing pillowcases and other small flat things was one of my first household chores that my mother taught me. The same as I taught my daughters. They argued over who got to iron and who had to do dishes.
