Oh no!! Mini Wick is just like the person...very, very VERY fond of food.
I was hoping I would be an easy keeper. :oops:
I keep thinking how amazing it was that I happened to pick a black and white bird! :love:wee :clap:woot

Does Banty bird and Wicky bird still call for each other and stay close?:pop
They are housed together with "baby termite", the orphan. The 3 of them eat together, sip together and perch together. Glued to each other's sides like a chorus line. They are big enough to be housed with the original 4 but I haven't consolidated them yet. Soon.. very soon.

I've had a terrible time telling Auroradream and Rubysword apart all this time. So Auradream's bird has grey on the top of her neck and dark colored feathers underneath on her wings??? That's interesting!
They were identical twins at birth/hatch. Ruby was a runt. That was my only way of identifying her, But then she started out growing Aurora. But Aurora started getting darker faster. THEN Aurora exploded in size and passed up Ruby. So Ruby is once again the petite one. I have never in my years of raising poultry followed the development of birds with time lapse photography, so I find this very interesting to say the least. It's hard to remember details of what they looked like Day 1, day 5, week 3.... until a picture graph displays the progression.
This thread/little project, is by far one of my favorite threads that I have started on yard birds dot com. Very rewarding. Very interesting. I am always excited to update this and share the new photos and adventurous developments of raising Chicks hand selected by friends a zillion miles away. I'm so glad I started this project.

@penny1960 where are you? Remember the Egg you chose for me to hatch? It's not an egg anymore!:gig

Here is a spoiler.. It's taking to long to build it but this was and still the plan. Ducks are slowing me down. They are a lot of work.
We have started building a habitat for the BYC Birds & termite).
They will all be living together in a custom built coop and run for the purpose of breeding them. So the six of my BYC friends whom chose an egg for me to hatch will become Grand parents..hehe :oldYOUR OLD NOW!!:gig
Capricorn obviously will be having his way with your selected pullets!:confused: I don't know how you feel about Capricorn jumping on your backs and spreading his demon seed, but more chicks will be coming!
As far as the 2 Rooster situation, I say Banty is a Pullet and Robert says cockerel. Housing 2 Roos in a breeding house adds to much stress and mostly wear & tear on the breeder girls. So I will have to choose the lesser aggressive cockerel as the primary breeder. Although the second would be housed separately as a backup/stand by mater.
This will be interesting to see how this plays out.
No BBQ, no craigslist.. they all get to live a long and happy life here on the farm.
The babies will be sold of course. I maybe crazy, but far from insane.:lau

@CapricornFarm
You have a handsome young man. Thinking about breeding him with a couple of my Black Jersey Giants. After all, that's what that big ole dude is. Not pure, but has taking on a 98% appearance.
Wanna see his yearbook photo? He just graduated you know. Are you not getting alerts? Maybe bookmark this thread:confused:
@CapricornFarm

I have 3 other birds to update progression and what not. @Auroradream26 seems to be the most involved in this silly little project so GUESS WHO IS NEXT?
What a Gorgeous Pullet. 3rd generation hatches are like snow flakes. No 2 are a like. Take a brief look at baby aurora.. Breath taken Beauty.. OMG!

Thank you for the new pictures! I love silly little projects lol.

This has been an amazing adventure and I can't wait to see grand chicks! I did notice my face is rather pinkish in the pictures ;) It's just so awesome to have picked out some random egg on someone's counter and getting to watch as it becomes something so much more :) What would be really amazing is if someday, we all managed to get together and get pictures of each of us with our birds lol
