New Years Traditions

My grandmother is from Idaho, so this is probably an Idaho tradition. But, she always makes black-eyed peas and collard greens.

Edited, 'cause I can't spell.

We don't do pork- so we always spend the morning making a huge batch of stuffed cabbage to go with garlic mashers for a big dinner. At my mom's house there were always fights over any leftovers.

The guys always watched football- but since we moved it's more of a "bundle up for a hike whlie dinner's cookin"- same as Thanksgiving.

How great, keep um coming. And don't forget to add where you live. I love New Years and Christmas and traditions. I suspect we are legion.

Order ribs, baked potatoes and potato skins from Texas Roadhouse, pig out and watch a bunch of movies. I have to watch the Rose Parade too.

I know you asked about America...................but..........here in the UK we have traditions too!! I was born in Northumberland which is next to Scotland and seems to have some of the Scottish traditions. We would go to a place called Allendale on New Years Eve and all the pubs would have their doors open and people would be all over the square drinking. At midnight there is a procession of men carrying flaming beer barrels above their heads and then a bonfire and fireworks and of course singing Auld Lang Syne. The tradition says that the first person over the door in the new year must be a dark haired man bringing coal and salt - my dad always did it even after his hair turned white!!
I live in Wales now and there don't seem to be the same trads here apart from singing together!! and drinking of course!

You guys rock. I did not mean to leave you all out! I forget this is world wide web, ha. Have a very happy and prosperous New Year one and all!!!!!!
