New York mini chickenstock 2016

400

These are from my bluest layers, they do show better color in real life than on my camera phone. Two are Easter Egger, one is Cream Legbar. The EEs I have with the CL rooster, and the CL i have with the EE rooster, all with the intent to make bluer eggs. These are the eggs I have in the incubator now for chicks to bring to chickenstalk, and might as well bring some eggs too lol. The one EE has only been in the Legbar pen 2 weeks now so her chicks might be straight EE, or CL/EE, plus she periodically escapes back to the main flock when I open the pen to feed/clean. Chicks from the other two hens will be all CL/EE though.

I'm looking forward to getting some chicks from you & yes, bring hatching eggs if possible.

@mcdermottm photos of your EE's please?

@LuvMyChicks1491 Did that hen have any relatives with mottling? Because a few chicks have a little mottling, (of course it looks those ones are roosters). But they'll probably loose it if they're just a carrier. The chicks were so adorable - they're the black & yellow ones in this group:

Hi there. I sold out of all of my extra chickens when I took them to a swap/sale at our local tractor supply. I have the 2 pair of 10 month old legbars left but that's because I didn't take them with me. I expect those will be sold soon as well. I may have 4 lavender silkie chicks by chickenstock.
I will still bring hatching eggs. I also have a source for buff or lavender orpington hatching eggs if anyone is interested. I would be happy to pick them up if you let me know you want them ahead of time. they are $15 per dozen.
I also have a legbar roo in with my EEs. I have an EE roo as well who is black and white. He is the boss and the legbar is tolerated.

I might be interested in some of the CL/EE hatching eggs, if I can leave enough room in the incubator !!

@Chicken girl 15Oh & for head count, there should be 3 of us + poultry :) - my Mom, Dad & I.

Anyone interested in Swedish Flower Hen adult (various hatch 2015 dates) hens, roosters or started chicks? If so, PM me for details & I'll save them for you. Otherwise, I'll be taking them to the swap/sale this Saturday in Cooperstown.

Mcdermottm - congrats on the good sale ! :)

I can fill in a little - I may have olive egger layer chicks - less than a week old - if my hatch goes well. But no matter - I'll have hatching eggs that will produce olive egger layers ... and one of hens is a frizzle - so there is a 25% chance that there will be frizzle olive eggers out of the mix. :)

What are the parents? And what feather color chicks to they produce? Most of the "traditional" OE I've seen are black or blue or a solid feather color. I prefer ones more "colorful". :)

Daddy is a White Pure Marans with feathered legs/feet ....
Moms are: typical brown with dark flecks EE, Crested Cream Legbar with more of a chestnut than cream base color, Frizzled grey EE ;) I imagine some of the babies will be splashed colored - so that may fit your bill - this is the first time with this Daddy - so I haven't seen what this mix will be yet - however - the eggs in the bater that I am running now are ALL fertile - so that is not an issue. :) I don't think I will have more than 1 to 3 chicks from this hatch - maybe none - I'm not really a hatcher - but I certainly will have hatching eggs

Thanks for the info! I think I'll pass, but if there might be someone else on here interested.

Grrr!!! My incubation is on day 23#!# the eggs are rocking and Rollin but HELLO I WANT CHICKS!!! How long do I wait before I start the Eggtopsy?

If they're still moving let them be. I've had some hatch as late as day 25. Sounds like your incubator temperature was too low and has caused a late hatch.
