My Wife has been asking for chickens for the last couple of years. I found this site yesterday, went to a Backyard chicken class hosted by the local permaculture guild last night, bought chickens today. The kids got to pick them out, and name them. We got 6 of them to start our flock.

2 - Sicilian Buttercups - Rosie and Lucy
2 - Golden Sexlinks - Big Mamma and Penny (OR Laverne and Shirley depending on who you ask)
1 - Americauna - Betty Coop
1- Dominique - Fern

We cant wait to watch them grow, and discover their personalities. Is there anything I should know about these breeds? I look forward to reading and learning from this group.

I'm sure you'll do fine - there's plenty of expert advice here. Enjoy your new chicks!!

Hey! I'm new to the site, also. LilbitChicken, we're neighbors! So far I've found BYC'ers in Tombstone and St. David. What kind of chickens do you have? We've got 14 right now, but we're getting another shipment in a couple weeks. You can check out our website: www.reclaranch.com. Let me know what you're up to, maybe we can help each other out! We'll be at the Sierra Vista Farmer's Market on Thursday selling our compost.
