I live in Brevard County Florida and am looking into raising chickens in my backyard. I cannot find anything to say that I can have them, and whether or not I need permits or anything. I actually live in the county limits, not within city limits in a neighborhood. I've heard people can have up to 6--but again, cannot find that information out.

Who do I call? Are there any other Brevardians who do this that can point me in the right direction?

    TIA!!

Yes - look at the posts in Local Chicken Laws & Ordinances (and how to change them) ยป Chicken Experiences in Central Florida?

It looks like you can have hens, but no roosters, and need a permit. I'd check with your County Extension Office -- they will either know or will know who to contact.

    Good luck!! [IMG]
