Hi lovely people!

I just joined this site today and I’m already loving it!

Posted a long intro message so if you want the long version feel free to stalk, however I’ll give a short blurb here before my questions.

I’m going to be conducting an experiment on hatching twins from a double yolk egg (I’m aware of the complications, hence the research!) and due to the only hatchery near me that was willing to help supply the eggs is a Muscovy hatchery, I will now be conducting the experiment with ducks! After some research I realized they aren’t as easy as chickens so I’d like to properly prepare myself for when I start the experiment! I’ll first try with regular eggs to get a feel for it of course, and I’ve read the post about hatching muscovies on here 3x already!

Here are my questions! (I’m sure these won’t be my last ones either lol)

What day of the incubation process do you stop turning the eggs? (I’ll be hand turning since I don’t have a turner)

When do I need to provide water for the ducklings to play in?

What feed to you guys typically feed?

I know humidity is a huge factor especially in the last stages, but is there anything else I should be mindful of to avoid death after pipping?

I’m sure I’ll come up with more things to ask but for now that’s it!

Thank you in advance for all your help, and I’ll definitely be posting once I start the experiment!

When do I need to provide water for the ducklings to play in?
I would wait a week before letting the ducklings play in water. Once you do, keep an eye on them while they are in the water and dry them off after. They can easily get a chill.
What feed to you guys typically feed?
Non-medicated chick crumbles with nutritional yeast or brewers yeast added. 1 tblsp of Nutritional yeast to 1 cup of feed.

Awesome, thank you so much!
