Newbie questions: barn, fencing, chicks and turkeys...

I got a fortune cookie last night. It said:

Trust your intuition. The universe is guiding you.

Tonight, dh came home from work and I mentioned the fence problems. He looked puzzled and reminded me that we own 8 panels of 6x6 dog run fencing, which can be configured into 12x24, or 288 square feet. That's PLENTY for 20 layers if it's attached to a barn to use for a coop. If and when I feel the need to expand the numbers, as everybody predicts, it's easily modified to add more panels.

I think that I'll probably build tractors anyway, for raising meat birds and using for hatching chicks. But that's not urgent.

SandraMort!! From BBC? Are you moving somewhere you can have chickens? What a coincidence to see you on here!

You think THAT'S a shock, wait until I tell you WHY we're moving. I'm putting the kids into private school! LOL!

I haven't actually moved yet. I'm waiting for dh to accept a job sometime this week and we can figure out income, but I have an appointment for seeing a house... OH, you have to see this house... where's that url... I'm not buying, but the owners gave up on selling it after two years. So, I am hoping to rent part of this house (it's divided into two apartments): http://www.forsalebyowner.com/listing/268DA#

So, during the day it's gonna be me, Doc and the new baby, plus a bazillion cheepy birds all scrambling to be fed. I already know Doc's gonna want to feed them and look for eggs forty times a day! I suppose it's better than playing online, right?

Wow, this place is WILD. First I got email from a total stranger asking if I know my father in law and now you?!? AND I already found somebody who lives in the town that I'm hoping to find a house!

Do I know about the new baby? I can't remember how many you had the last time I talked to you. I love the address of the house... that would be the perfect street name for a homeschooler, lol.

Beats me, though she turns six months old in a few days. Laura Rose was born on 1/18, at home, of course, and was caught by Eva. It was quite exciting. It was the first birth my mother attended and she sat at my head with David in her lap. Raffi was overwhelmed and sleepy and watched tv until Laura was born.

But to make things relevant, I ought to mention that each of the kids wants to have his or her own chickens and I need to figure out a way to be able to separate them. I'm thinking of assigning each child his or her own breed and when it's time to procreate, putting those in a tractor together for some "special alone time", as we call it in our house. The rest of the time, keeping them in the barn with everybody else ought to work!
