Hi and welcome to BYC :frow We're so happy you've decided to join us :ya

In the brooder ducks are just plain messy. They need a deep enough water dish to clean their nares. And they will constantly preen. How long depends on the weather and their feathering. I will have some mid April and they'll spend 3 weeks in the brooder.

Hello there! Glad to have you here! From what I understand, ducks of all ages need to be able to submerge their head, or at least nostrils, in the water. So nipple waterers wouldn't suffice. I plan to get ducks someday and have been doing some research... here is a very helpful thread with a link to a perfect homemade waterer:
Raising and Caring for Ducklings

Best wishes with your new adventure!
