We got our chicks in Feb, we wanted 5 but were told we'd lose 1-2 so we bought 7. We still have 7!
We have a 2 and 5 year old that LOVE and named our babies: Sushi (BR),Goldie Hen (BO), Ameraucanas Taco , Cookie, Joan Snow, and our Marans Becky and Te Ka.
We so love them! They started laying in July and we're getting the prettiest eggs.
Of course when our ladies started laying and getting a little mouthy one of our neighbors reported us and now we have to fight city council to keep them! If you have advice we'll take it!

The best thing you can do is post on your state thread. The BYCERS there may rally around you and give much needed support and maybe even 'know how.'

I don't believe folks from other areas/states would be of any influence, since this is usually a local thing. Chicago allows chickens even roosters. Tell them if Chicago can do it, so can they!!
