It all started when one of our two year old peacock died. We took him to the vet and he said that he had gotten New castle. We didn't know he was not vaccinated. He was a member ofa party of three; a bblack shoulder peahen, and these two blue-black shoulders.

He died on 24th.

We got them all vaccinated. Even our two others, a black shoulder and a pied who were vaccinated when they were chicks. All approx. 2 years olds.

Four days after his death, the peahen died. She showed apsolutely no symptoms other than laziness. She had stopped eating. Or drinking. But she walked around just fine.

Now, my pied, and the other blue black shoulder have started showing these symptoms. The vaccination did not work? Were they previously infected?

The blue black shoulder was eating yesterday, but not drinking. He's doing neither today. He poops a yellow clear liquid ever so often. He zones out sometimes. It has been going on right after the peahen died, which is yesterday actually.

The pied didn't show symptoms yesterday except for the yellow diarrhea. We took them to the vet yesterday and he said to quarantine them and keep the temperature low. Today the pied drank a lot of water, is otherwise standing upright, but is not eating.

They both take the food, (which is bread, garlic, corn and feed; seperate) they wriggle it in the tip of their beak and it falls. Its like they want to eat, but can't.

I'm seventeen and my parents told me there is nothing we can do for them. Is that true?
I live in Pakistan.

Please tell me something relieving. I don't want to lose them. I can't see them like that.

If they,re going to die, what can I do to make it less painful for them. Please help.

I believe that yu vet misdiagnosed them, it sounds like Blackhead. We keep sick birds warm not cool, at least 85*F Can you get Metradinazol? That is the common medication for blackhead. Maybe we can get @casportpony in on this conversation.

Hope someone can help you and them...
Sorry for your loss..

God bless you for replying to me!

Actually i read online now and the symptoms were ditto to what my peafowl are experiencing.
Luckily we had metronidazol in our home, we crushed the tablets and gave it to each (half of the tablet each) a few minutes ago.

As i cant find more information on this, can you please tell me what other things we should do for them for the treatment.

Will this work? Or is it too late?
Its been only 24 hours since they started their 'not eating, eyes closed and huddling' sign.

Thank you for this. I didnt know what blackhead was before this.
Here in pakistan, i never heard of blackhead outbreaks before.

Do you have chickens or did you recently get chickens or some kind of new bird? They can get it from chickens sometimes. It definitely sounds like blackhead. I hope they recover quickly!

@KsKingBee
We had the syringe bought but couldnt find a feeding tube, my sister will see if she can check the hospital (she's a dentist).

Question, they're all still showing the symptoms, the droppings seem to be two or three and they turn their head slowly to see me or just glance from the corner of their eye. They're still lazy. Did the 50mg metronidazol didnt work on them?
When should we give it to them again? (We gave it to them last night at 9, right now its 1 in the afternoon).
What else could we give them? Should i give them cayenne pepper too? If so, then how? And when?

@minxfox no they were just these five. We did however had raised the ground level where there home is with new soil and earth. So it maybe that these parasites were in that ground?
I do hope they get well.

My blue shoulder [name: Czar] seems to be better. We let him out of the cage and onto our front lawn. He was standing straight and even turning his neck to see us. He even walked around the house. But he didn't eat himself. We had to feed him. We put the bread pieces in the tip of his tongue and he took it in by himself.

The pied however is worse. He stood on the same spot we put him on the lawn. I could tell he had balance problem. But he kept standing there. He often circled around on the same spot. But he didn't eat. Even when we put the bread in his beak. I'm worried about him. He turns his neck in an awkward way, as if the muscles are taut or something. He seems thinner too.

We gave them both water however, with multi-vitamins in it.

Is there anything we should do for the pied? [His name is Winter by the way.]
Or just wait?

We'll try to feed him again in a few hours. Lets hope he eats. Last time he ate was this morning. It's 8 in the night now.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
