Hey, figured id join this community seeing as I'm always ending up here while im researching anything and everything chicken-related.

I am fairly new to raising chickens. under a year.

I have 6 hens. 4 Sapphire Gems and 2 speckled Sussex. I am sticking to 6 no matter how hard the universe tells me I need more! lol

I got into raising birds mainly because I am a disabled Veteran and they keep me occupied, and they honestly help with mental health issues.
Plus the price of eggs was crazy and we eat so many eggs in my family of 7 lol it's a win/win for everyone

we have a 3 legged German shepherd who loves to herd them around their run sometimes too

Welcome to BYC - settle in and enjoy the community. I find sitting with my chickens to be very calming and definitely lowers my stress - I am glad you are finding them therapeutic.
