newly hatched duckling with umbilical prob?

This is a wee duckling who hatched a few hours ago. Something's unusual with its belly, is this a cause for concern or will it be ok? Ignore the wee piece of red thread, I used that to tie off all the egg gloop that this one was trailing around.

Totally fine! It should dry up and fall off after awhile! BTW She/he is absolutely ADORABLE!

My wee buddy died I was quite attached to that wee duckling! There was something wrong with his eye, some kind of infection and he was sleepy and pretty miserable. Hubby culled him, it was quick and painless.

Here he is, having a cuddle with my daughter.

He was really sweet. I wanted to see what colours he would feather out in as he was a mixed breed (pekin, mallard and something else!)
