Newnan, GA. Chattahoochee Valley Poultry Association Show, Feb. 18-19

I had a great time and am so thankful to Vickie and Micki for saying to me many times that I should go. I will definitely be back next year. It was a pleasure to be able to put names to the faces of the BYC members. I saw many old friends and made several new friends. I met so many wonderful people. I learned a lot too. I may even bring some birds to show next year. Congratulations to all of the winners and to everyone who showed their birds. I hope someone will post a list of the winners and those who placed well.
well,how did everybody like it?
it may be just me but i have a hard time in the sale area.it seems to be alot of people just trying to make a few bucks and its not about the chickens.i can only stand so many stories of "well now ma'm,this here is a rare kind of barred rock."and if i saw one more person carry chickens by their wings ,i was gonna need someone to bail me out.i did not buy any chickens but if i did,it would have felt like a rescue.
the same reason i no longer go to horse sales.
i am not talking about all the birds and some people had very nice birds for sale. thank you for ,obviously caring about your birds.
i really liked the show pens(i don't know how some of them are treated either)but some of them looked really nice.
next year i am showing at least 5 breeds and i am looking foward to it again.
thanks to all on BYC.

I do hate it too when people aren't a little more careful with how they handle their birds. I have bought birds from shows before and do think I get a better quality bird as the people that go to the shows seem to care for their birds more and better. Most people that go to most swap meets are trying to get rid of their less desirable birds so I don't buy birds at swap meets unless I know the person and their reputation where I know they have good quality birds.

had fun
Sold all my birds except a pair of bantam Rhode Island Reds
Bought a pair of African Geese, Trio of Standard Cochins, Pair of White Laced Red bantam Corinshs, some of Kathys Blue Orpington Hens, Really nice looking Spalsh silkie rooster (Thor), and two young silkies from Sunshine Silkies.

Got Reserve Light goose on my Eqyptain Gander
Got Best Of Breed on my Blue Amerucana rooster he went against 5 other Amerucanas so I thought that was pretty cool.

Show was great as always The people from the poultry club really go all out. Its ashamed it got rained out but that means it will be even better next year as they always seem to try to be better than the year before. Congratulations to all who won And congratulations to Dillon Pesada who took 5 first places in the junior show and came in with champion reserve at the end. Its great to see the younger generation taking an interest in showing and raising the breeds.

Had a great time, bought a few birds, hoping for more but didnt get there till 11 am so there werent many left in the breeds we were after. But was very happy to win the drawing for the brooder

Ugh! I let the threat of weather keep me from going. It is a good 4 hours from here so didn't want to chance it! Were most of the chickens picked over by 11?

We left about Noon and still no rain. I was thinking the show was small, but maybe that was because of the threat of rain. Next year I will stay the whole weekend. I feel like I missed so much because they were still judging.

Does anyone have pics of the winners?
