As to the pain--I don't think it's a painful condition, more like a weakness. Imagine if your legs just felt sort of shaky and weak--you'd rest a lot and probably be annoyed by it, but it wouldn't be painful. Tomorrow is soon enough--it takes a couple weeks or more for niacin deficiency to become a dangerous condition, so you've got time to get it all fixed up. I would expect niacin gel caps to be your easiest bet to start with until you can locate a source for one of the other options. It's the most complicated solution from a husbandry perspective (and therefore not practical for large numbers of birds), but it's often the easiest solution from a supply perspective (because nearly anywhere you can find niacin caps at a drug store/pharmacy). For small numbers of birds it's a pain, but not really that big of a deal. I did it with my first several small batches of babies, and it worked just fine, even when all I could find were the flush-free time-release capsules.
Good luck!!
