I think one of their neighbors has chickens, and has had them for several years. Whenever I’m over I can hear them but it’s not annoying at all. Just content clucks and the occasional squawkQuiet is always good when you have close neighbors. You really don't want to rock the boat unnecessarily, even if chickens are permitted, quiet is better
I know in my town the ordinance does not prohibit roosters, but it does specifically mention excessive noise and nuisance animals, so if I had a loud rooster and someone complained, I could be made to get rid of it.
Good luck with the new chickens. It should be fun. I have never had australorps but they have been on my wish list, they just were not available at the right time. They are popular for a reason and seems like they generally make good pets.
