Due to a temporarily insane broody (you can read my thrilling Independence Day thread), we have a quintet of peeps in a temporary brooder this week... In our living room (our home is quite small and this really is the only option until we move them into the coop brooder, where we typically brood chicks from day one).

Anyhow, since Friday night, the chicks do this (video below) for a good half hour before bedtime. They will be a week old tomorrow; there is a heat plate raised maybe 4-5" from the floor (it's warm, well above 70 indoors). Food, water all good. They are quite happy all day long, they get 'recess' outside the brooder, plenty of affection during the day, but the nighttime thing is quite distressing. My husband and I will pet them before bedtime, I stick my hand beneath the plate to show it's safe... Any thoughts? Is it possible they imprinted on me after the broody attacked and threw them from the nest so I had to rescue them and bring them inside?
