Nite Guard update

that would be the problem.. if they are used to people.. lights at night.. city noises and so on.. then in my opinion a few more flashing lights won't matter to them..

as I have said before the reason why I believe mine work so well is that we live way out in the middle of nowhere.. so the wild predators are more afraid of things that aren't familiar to them.. in a town or a city.. or anyplace where the wildlife is used to strange noises or flashing lights it's going to be harder to find some sort of electronic deterrent that will work against them

I agree with Yinepu. If the predators are use to people and lights, these night guards won't have a very strong effect on them. I am sure the product works well in the deep woods, but around here, not so well. Lead at 1100 fps should work on them.

I'm seriously thinking about getting these since we have lots of coons and coyotes. We just built the coop and I don't want any issues. We have a large dog kennel as a run and the coop inside. There is tin roofing material all the way around it burried 6" deep. I still stands high all the way around but I could see a coon standing on his back legs and reaching in.

I have 10 niteguard lights around my coops and runs and have NEVER had a problem......knock on wood! I have them at various levels. My chickens free range in the day which just plays havoc on my nerves but I want them to be happy, but I won't take any chances in the night.

I've seen these advertised in a few places lately. I may be investing in a few in the near future and do the whole moving them everynow and then, at different heights. There are tons of coyotes in my area, and tho I dont have chickens atm, I want to get this problem taken care of before my chicks arrive this spring. I also plan on investing in a llama or donkey for my goat herd which roams around the house, just as an added protection, hopefully my first line of defence as you get near the coop.
