Nite Guard update

I'm glad they're working for you.. it's so darn frustrating when you go out in the morning and find piles of feathers or chicks missing body parts. At first I figured it was just part of living in the country to lose a bird here or there.. and if that's how it stayed I could have dealt with it.. but this year has been especially bad as far as predators goes.. and sooner or later you just have to put your foot down and say enough is enough...
Heck.. if someone had told me that if I went out during the full moon.. stripped nekid.. strapped a cow skull to my head and danced around in circles chanting to the ancient gods would have worked.. i would have asked them which direction to dance and what to chant... cause it's gotten that bad!

what can I say... they pushed me to the breaking point... so now it's all out war

It does mean war. I am losing sleep after discovering tonight that there are foxes living in my neighbors barn! It doesn't take much to push me over the edge I guess. Plan of attack goes into effect as soon as there is daylight

I am livid & worried at the same time. Gonna look into these lights too.

well.. earlier this year we didn't have much of a problem.. I knew as soon as the foxes had their babies that we would lose a few.. but that was to be expected.
Never had a coon problem though.. then after all this happened I ran into one of my neighbors up at the mailboxes. He asked me how things were going .. and so I told him about the predator problems.. That's when he informed me that he HAD been feeding some coons that were living in an old dead tree on his property.. he decided to cut the tree down and quit feeding them. So I pretty much inherited his coons. We are also having a drought.. so I know a lot of the critters are coming in for water. Then they smell chicken and rabbit and figure that the buffet is open. I've also seen a very skinny stray dog (why do people like to dump their unwanted pets in the country???) running off with one of my roosters.. and then there are the coyotes... the list just keeps getting bigger...

That's why we got our Pyr too! When researching dog breeds, she just seemed to fit our lifestyle...So glad we got her!

I had a raccoon attack and kill a chicken, although I prevented it from taking the corpse away. After that I got some nite guards and started live trapping.... been like six weeks and no raccoon.
