NJ - Sussex County Poultry Fanciers Annual Spring Show!!

My daughter won best in show with her blue cohin at a show. Can just anyone enter or do you have to belong to a special group? I would love to come but I have no idea what to do. Can anyone explain this to a REAL newbie.
Thanks in advance

Good for her! I'll have a LF blue cochin at the show. (Of course, now that I've said that, she'll molt on me) Hey - we were all newbie's once! First, pm me with your contact info so I can send it to the show secretary. They will add it to the mailing list and you will receive a show catalog later this month. This show is for jr's and adults. Anyone can enter. Basically, you:

- Decide which birds you'd like to enter
- fill out the form listing them and send it in
- before the show, make sure to get your birds tested for pullorum - names of testers can be found through the NJ thread
- bathe and dry your birds, making sure there are no mites of other infectious elements
- gather water cups and food for your birds for the show, clean out your carriers
- coop-in the night before, or the morning of the show, before 9am
- hang out all day of the show, which generally runs to about 3pm, depending on the number of birds
- don't forget to bring money to buy food and tickets for the ticket auction and 50/50, and get a club shirt
- ask ALOT of questions - that's where you learn stuff - there is no dumb question
- try to grab the judge after the show and ask him to tell you about your bird and its merits and faults
- pack up your birds, say good-bye to new friends, and mark you calendar for next year!

Just my really nice big partridge cochin. I swear, she has a mike in my house so that she can hear if I'm planning to show her, so that she can plan her blow-outs! #@$%!

Everyone else - please God!please! - looks good. Of course, I've just jinxed myself.

I feel your pain! I'm counting the days until the show, so I can be re-assured that I'll actually be bringing a bird. Putting quite alot more BOSS in the feed...I'm getting so nervous! One day they look great, the next, feathers just drop!

One of my hens decided to take a bite out of my rooster last week. I just about flipped!
