I get the Flock Raiser because it has just a bit more protein. I mix about a 25% into my chick's feed , and sometimes throw he whole bag in with the big girls for extra protein. The heritage breeds can, and do better with, more protein than just the regular 16% layer feed.

I was just down at the coop tonight showing off the girls to some people who came to get four of my faverolles babies, and I was looking at that white JG - all nine pounds of her - and wondering if the judge would mark me down if she was still dirty. (Big, suffering sigh) She is a ton of work to clean, and then KEEP clean until the show. And she doesn't like baths very much, so I get as wet as her.

OK- I just found this after reading the other 2 yr old thread...
Will there be any Mandarin or Wood Ducks at this show? I'm in southern Warren County, and would love to attend the May show. I've never been to any of them and want to know what to expect. I won't be bringing any of my birds to it- I just want to find some Mandies and Woodies.

We do get a goodly number of call ducks, but I don't recall seeing any Mandarins - I don't know what the Wood Ducks look like. But please come - it's always better to check out a show and ask questions before bringing your own birds.
